When it rains, it pours: Deluge to soak 34 Thai provinces

Weather warnings escalate as officials brace for worsening flash flood risks

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecasted continued heavy rainfall across Thailand, identifying 34 provinces that will be particularly affected. Residents in the southwestern region are advised to remain cautious due to the ongoing weather conditions.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates persistent thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in some areas. This is attributed to a moderate southwesterly monsoon over the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand, coupled with a low-pressure area over the north coast of Vietnam. The TMD has highlighted the risk of heavy rain and warned of potential hazards in these regions.

In the Andaman Sea, moderate sea conditions are expected, with waves reaching approximately 2 metres, and even higher in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to navigate with care and avoid areas with thunderstorms.
