Heavy rain alert for 43 Thai provinces including Bangkok
Flash flood risk escalates as storms drench southern and mountain regions

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather warning for May 6, forecasting heavy rain in 43 provinces, including Bangkok. The southern region is expected to experience significant rainfall covering 70% of the area, with risks of flash floods and landslides.
In the next 24 hours, heavy rain is anticipated in the southern part of Thailand. Residents are urged to exercise caution due to potential dangers from accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods, particularly in areas near mountain slopes, waterways, and low-lying regions.
This weather condition is attributed to an easterly wind wave moving across the Gulf of Thailand, the south, and the Andaman Sea, while northwesterly winds cover the Andaman Sea.
In the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, waves are expected to reach about 1 metre in height, increasing to over 2 metres in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to avoid these stormy areas.
In upper Thailand, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected alongside hot weather. The northeastern region will see heavy rain in some areas, urging residents to be cautious of potential thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall, which may occur.
It’s also advised to take care of health due to changing weather conditions. The current weather pattern is due to a low-pressure area caused by heat covering upper Thailand, with southern and southeasterly winds bringing moisture to the area.
