Really Cool Airlines to fly by 2023 close, schedule in June
New carrier Really Cool Airlines is set to take off in Thailand by the end of this year, according to its CEO, Patee Sarasin. The airline will focus on international flights and is expected to help boost the country’s aviation industry, which has been hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company will announce its flight routes by the end of June and commence operations by the close of the year.“We Fly the Future” is the slogan of Really Cool Airlines, which will aim to offer a unique experience to passengers that falls between luxury and budget carriers.
Really Cool Airlines’ CEO said that he was excited and ready to introduce the airline, which he believes will set new standards in the industry. He also promised to offer passengers enhanced safety and service.
The announcement of the new airline has been welcomed by Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, who highlighted the important role airlines have played in the development of smart cities. Chadchart also praised the potential of Really Cool Airlines to help to boost the recovery of Thai tourism.
Really Cool Air is owned by Patee Sarasin, the former CEO of Nok Air, who partnered with blockchain pioneers to launch a unique company. The company started in the virtual space as a game with the goal of becoming a long-haul airline in the real world. Their website is full of modern hip buzzwords.
“Really Cool Air is the world’s first GameFi airline project invented for players to earn, learn, play and win. Our team is equipped with enthusiastic experts from around the globe, who are keen on areas like blockchain, GameFi, ecosystem management, crypto, NFTs and more. Our ambition is to establish a brand new airline in the real world, which is governed by the crypto native citizens from our Really Cool Air GameFi.”
They are expected to apply for an air operating licence soon.
Thailand’s tourism industry was hit hard by the pandemic. However, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has raised its forecast to 30 million foreign tourist arrivals this year. That represents about 80% of the figures before the global pandemic when 39 million visitors arrived in 2019.
To reach this target, the agency said that Thailand must increase the number of airlines and flights serving the country. The good news of tourism returning to the kingdom in leaps and bounds has been someone tarnished by a lack of preparedness among airlines, airports, taxis, and the tourism industry in general. Labour shortages have plagued recovery as out-of-work employees moved to new industries.
Really Cool Airlines is hoped to play a key role in this effort to pump up flight frequencies, and its launch is eagerly anticipated by both the aviation industry and tourists.
