Songkran festival turns sour as woman drenched by teens (video)

A young woman was left frustrated during the Songkran festival after being unexpectedly drenched with water by a group of teenagers, causing her to be knocked off balance. The water’s suspicious yellowish hue further added to her concern.
Celebrated annually, the Songkran festival is eagerly awaited by many for its water festivities. However, participants are reminded to prioritise safety, as overly aggressive actions can lead to injuries.
Yesterday, April 15, TikTok user @yingaom22 shared a video capturing the aggressive behaviour of teenagers during the festival. The video, captioned, “This type of water splashing isn’t cute #SongkranAggressiveWater,” shows the potential dangers of such actions.
In the video, the woman is seen using a water gun to spray water at fellow festival-goers along a roadside. Suddenly, a teenage boy douses her with water from behind, and another person sprints closer to splash her with force, causing her to stumble.
The water used appears to be yellowish and cloudy, raising concerns about its origin and potential harm if it contacts the eyes. The aggressive nature of the water splashing could easily result in injuries.
Netizens have been quick to criticise the behaviour, expressing that such practices are inappropriate during the festival, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, Pattaya police have launched a crackdown on water trucks that obstruct traffic and create safety hazards during the Songkran celebrations.
Yesterday, April 15, at 7.36pm, reporters in Chon Buri witnessed several water trucks spraying revellers and contributing to traffic congestion in Pattaya, raising concerns for the safety of both passengers and nearby pedestrians.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Phanuphong Nimsuwan, a traffic inspector at Pattaya City Police Station, emphasised that such activities violate traffic regulations and pose significant risks. He directed traffic officers to carry out immediate inspections.
During the operation, police spotted a six-wheeled water truck near the Pattaya Police Station. Onboard, three Chinese tourists were found enthusiastically spraying water as part of the festivities.
