Muay Thai instructor dies after Si Racha canal motorcycle plunge

A Muay Thai instructor from Pattaya met a tragic end after his motorcycle accidentally plunged into a canal in the Si Racha district.

Nong Kham police were alerted yesterday, September 16, to the discovery of a body in a public canal along Highway 331, in front of the Caltex gas station in the Nong Kham subdistrict of Si Racha, Chon Buri province. Officers and local rescue teams promptly arrived on the scene to investigate.

Rescue workers confirmed that the deceased was a middle-aged Muay Thai instructor from Pattaya. On the previous night, at around 11.10pm, the instructor reportedly fell into a roadside canal while attempting to start his motorcycle. The strong current swept him into a drainage pipe, where he disappeared.

Despite immediate search efforts, rescue workers were unable to locate him until his body was found yesterday. He was identified as 49 year old Nikhom Sirithammachak. Nikhom’s body was retrieved from the canal and taken to a local hospital in preparation for future religious rites.

A friend of the deceased explained that Nikhom had just finished work and was on his way home when the unfortunate incident occurred, reported Pattaya News.

In related news, a Thai woman was riding her motorcycle at high speed on the Rama IV Bridge in Nonthaburi province, Bangkok, when she reportedly crashed into the edge of the bridge and fell onto the bonnet of a sedan below.

The 23 year old owner of the sedan visited Pak Kret Police Station on September 12 to report the shocking incident to the police and prove her innocence and non-involvement in the case.

In other news, a tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of a teenage vocational student on Sukhumvit Road, near Soi Bang Lamung 16, in the early hours of September 11.

The incident occurred at approximately 5.16am. Police Lieutenant Wongthon Makkanan, Deputy Chief of Investigation at Bang Lamung Police Station, responded to the report and coordinated with rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan, Pattaya City.
