23 year old dies in big bike crash on Nonthaburi bridge

Deadly turn blamed on excessive speed and absence of adequate safety barriers

A tragic accident occurred when a 23 year old man, riding an 800cc big bike, lost control on a curve and crashed into a concrete barrier on the outbound side of the Maha Chesadabodindranusorn Bridge in Nonthaburi province, resulting in his death.

The incident took place at 4.30pm yesterday, May 7. Despite wearing a helmet, the rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police from Mueang Nonthaburi district were alerted to the accident involving a big bike that had lost control and crashed into the barrier. The accident occurred on the bridge heading towards Ratchaphruek Road in Suan Yai subdistrict.

Police coordinated with doctors from the Institute of Forensic Science and rescue personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation to investigate.

At the scene, located on a curve of the bridge, the body of 23 year old Wiput was found lying on his back in the right lane, still wearing a helmet. Near his body, a damaged mobile phone and a broken 360-degree camera were found.

Approximately 50 metres away, a black Kawasaki Z800 big bike with the license plate 6 ขน1411 Bangkok was discovered overturned. The central road barrier showed scrape marks, broken reflectors, and a bent metal signpost due to the collision.

Witnesses reported seeing the big bike approaching the curve from Nonthaburi Road 1 at high speed before losing control and crashing into the road barrier.

The impact caused the bike and rider to slide a considerable distance, leaving the rider unconscious at the scene, reported KhaoSod.

The body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Science for an autopsy. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to further investigate the cause of the accident.

In similar news, a 55 year old man who had recently won the lottery tragically died after being struck by a truck in Chon Buri. The victim, identified as Praphan from Ubon Ratchathani, was found carrying an unclaimed winning lottery ticket at the scene.
