Two women arrested with 120,920 meth pills from Laos in Loei
Two women were arrested after being caught with 120,920 methamphetamine pills in their vehicle. They confessed to having received the drugs from Laos and have been charged with possession of a Category 1 controlled substance.
Today, September 27, in an operation aimed at tackling drug trafficking along the border, Yuttana Chokchai, Deputy Commander of the Loei Provincial Police, along with Surasak Montri Task Force and Police Station Phon Thong, set up a checkpoint in front of a PT petrol station in Ban Ahi, Loei province. Acting on a tip-off about a group of teenagers who were expected to collect drugs, the police were on high alert.
A white Chevrolet pickup truck approached the checkpoint with two women inside. The officers signalled for the vehicle to stop and questioned the occupants, who claimed they were heading to Tha Li district. Their nervous behaviour aroused the officers’ suspicion, prompting a search of the vehicle.
The search revealed 20 packs containing 120,920 methamphetamine pills hidden inside black plastic bags, which were further concealed in a white sack with blue stripes behind the passenger seat.
The driver was identified as 28 year old Warisa, while the passenger was identified as 23 year old Worada. Both women admitted to having received the drugs from Laos, reported KhaoSod.
The police charged the two women with possession of a Category 1 controlled substance. Along with the methamphetamine pills, the officers seized the pickup truck and two iPhones as evidence.
The suspects and the confiscated items were handed over to the Phon Thong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
