Police in Pathum Thani seize 80 kilograms of crystal meth, arrest two
Police in Pathum Thani province have apprehended two individuals suspected of drug trafficking and seized 80 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine along with firearms.
Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) officers detained a 23 year old man, known only as Onn, after discovering 80 bags of crystal methamphetamine and two sachets of ketamine concealed in his Isuzu MU-X pickup. The arrest occurred on September 17 night in a car park on Rangsit-Pathum Thani Soi 14, in tambon Prachathipat of Thanyaburi, according to Police Major General Theeradet Thumsuthee, investigative commander of the MPB.
Following this, officers arrested a second suspect, identified as 31 year old Niphon, at a nearby house on the same night. A search of the premises revealed a Smith & Wesson revolver, a shotgun, and numerous rounds of ammunition.
An investigation had been ongoing after reports surfaced that the two men were involved in drug sales in the Rangsit area, north of Bangkok. Investigators tracked their activities and discovered that they had rented the house in Rangsit-Pathum Thani Soi 14, Pol. Maj. Gen. Theeradet stated.
“The duo were charged with illegal possession of Category 1 drugs (crystal methamphetamine) with intent to sell, illegal possession of Category 2 drugs (ketamine), and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition,” Pol. Maj. Gen. Theeradet explained.
A background check revealed that both suspects had prior arrests related to drug trafficking, reported Bangkok Post.
During questioning, the suspects alleged that they had been hired to deliver drugs to dealers for 100,000 baht (US$3,040). They are currently in police custody awaiting legal proceedings.
