A Thai woman made a daring escape after being held hostage and sexually assaulted by her ex-boyfriend for four days in his Bangkok condo. The victim, 31 year old Am, is still receiving chilling death threats and has turned to a top Thai government official for help.

Am sought out the Public Health Minister’s advisor, Thanakrit Jitaree, after her ex-boyfriend detained her and vowed to kill her. She confessed her life has been a nightmare ever since, too terrified to even visit her parents, fearing he’ll track her down.

Am explained that her family lived next to her ex-boyfriend’s home, so they met each other frequently until they began a romantic relationship, which went well at first. However, they began arguing more often, and the arguments escalated into physical assaults.

Am later discovered that her ex-boyfriend’s drug use led him to abuse her, and she decided to end the relationship after two years. After the breakup, Am went to work abroad and returned to Thailand on September 16.

Am revealed that her ex-boyfriend tricked her into meeting him by saying he wanted to resolve their past issues. Am agreed to meet him and went to his apartment on the third floor of a building in Bangkok. Unfortunately, Am’s ex-boyfriend seized her mobile phone and passport before locking her in the room.

Suspect remains at large

Am was detained there for four days, during which the man raped her, cut her hair, and repeatedly threatened to kill her. He said the only way she could escape from him was by jumping off the building.

Am said her ex-boyfriend’s mother was aware of the situation but did not dare to help. The mother came to the apartment every day to bring food and drink for Am.

The woman eventually managed to escape with the help of other residents in the building. She screamed for help when her ex-boyfriend was away, and the residents came to her aid.

Am said she is living in fear and hiding from her ex-boyfriend because he continues to send her death threats. He has threatened to cut off her arms and legs and to attack her with acid if he finds her.

Am had planned to meet her family after working abroad for a long time but had not dared to go home since the incident.

Thanakrit assured her of her safety and accompanied her back to her family home. He is also following up on the case with Pathum Wan Police Station. Officers are planning to summon the man for questioning.
