Tragic karaoke bar shooting in Phatthalung leaves woman dead

A 40 year old Laotian woman was tragically shot and killed inside a karaoke bar on Phetkasem Road between Phatthalung and Hat Yai at 9pm yesterday, March 11.
Police Colonel Chan Narong Sangsang from Khao Chaison Police Station, Phatthalung province, received the report and promptly arrived at the scene with an investigative team and local rescue volunteers.
Inside the karaoke bar, specifically in a bedroom, police discovered the body of the woman, known as Pu, with four gunshot wounds to her head and body. Nearby, they found one unused 9mm bullet and three 9mm shell casings, which were collected as evidence.
Anucha, the 31 year old bar owner, explained that before the incident, a customer, identified only as Chalerm, arrived and asked for Pu, who was hiding in a room. When she refused to open the door, Chalerm reportedly forced entry and shot her multiple times before fleeing.
Anucha further shared that Pu and Chalerm were frequent patrons of the bar and had been involved in several arguments recently due to jealousy. Pu did not work at the bar but often visited to drink beer.
It is believed that a prior disagreement led her to seek refuge at the bar, only to be found by Chalerm, who then committed the shooting out of jealousy before escaping, reported KhaoSod.
The police are actively pursuing Chalerm, described as having a limp and driving a single-cab bronze pickup truck. His escape route was directed towards Tamot district, Phatthalung province. However, despite ongoing efforts, Chalerm has not yet been located by the police.
