Bang Bon Market shooting leaves fish vendor seriously injured

A shooting incident at Bang Bon Market resulted in a fish vendor being seriously injured due to a dispute between the wives of two vendors. The altercation led to chaos as shoppers fled.

Police Lieutenant Sarayut Santhat, Deputy Inspector from Bang Khun Thian Police Station, yesterday, March 5, responded to reports of a shooting at Bang Bon-Ekachai Fresh Market in Bangkok.

At the scene, police found 13 .32 calibre shell casings and two bullets. The injured man, identified as 43 year old fish vendor Tu, was shot three times in the buttocks, right thigh, and right chest. He was assisted by a Good Samaritan and transported to Mali Hospital.

Eyewitnesses recounted seeing two women, reportedly the wives of the pork and fish vendors, in a physical altercation. The pork vendor was present but did not intervene, reported KhaoSod.

Witnesses noted that the pork vendor commented, suggesting the fish vendor should arrive. Shortly after, the fish vendor appeared and walked behind the pork vendor, leading to the shooting.

The perpetrator fled the scene after injuring the fish vendor, who was then taken to Mali Hospital for treatment.

In similar news, a tragic incident unfolded in Buriram where a 46 year old street vendor named Somsak allegedly shot his 51 year old wife, Nahathai, a school director, before turning the gun on himself. Nahathai remains in critical condition at Buriram Hospital.

The incident took place around 9.30am on February 19, in the Mueang district of Buriram province. Nahathai was reportedly driving their pickup truck after dropping off their grandchild at school when Somsak, who was seated beside her, allegedly shot her.

He then reportedly used the same gun to fatally shoot himself. It is believed that jealousy and stress from his cancer diagnosis contributed to the incident.

CCTV footage near the scene provided additional insights into the events leading up to the shooting.
