Suicidal cop shoots his wife & kills himself in central Thailand

A depressed police officer is believed to have shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself yesterday in Noen Maprang district, in central Thailand.

The bodies of Police Lieutenant Somsak Taklom and his wife Nongluck were found dead at 9pm by duty officer Pol Lt Col Suparerk Chanmee at Sai Yoi police living quarters, in Noen Maprang district.

Forensic police and a doctor from Noen Maprang Hospital reported that the 49 year old woman was shot in the face, the chest, and an arm, while the 59 year old deputy chief inspector for suppression at Sai Yok police station had a gunshot wound to his right temple. A Sig Sauer P320 pistol belonging to Pol Lt Somsak was located near the bodies.

Friends of Pol Lt Somsak revealed he was estranged from his wife and lived alone while his wife, who worked as a vendor, stayed with her older sister in Phitsanulok Town.

Members of Nongluck’s family revealed her husband regularly suffered from bouts of depression and spoke a number of times about killing himself, only to be talked out of it by his wife. Nongluck’s family understand that she was on her way to talk her husband out of killing himself.

Officers took the bodies of the two dead to the Forensic Clinic at Phutthachinnarat Hospital before handing them over to relatives for merit-making.

Police made it known they are still investigating the circumstances.
