A Nigerian man suspected of motorcycle theft was apprehended after causing a disturbance outside a convenience store in the Muang district of Chumphon yesterday morning, according to police reports.
Tourist Police responded to an incident at the Home Fresh store in tambon Na Thung after receiving reports of a foreign tourist creating disorder and damaging property, stated Police Lieutenant Colonel Wachirapisak Na Songkhla, a tourist police inspector.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the tourist, identified as 26 year old Motasem Al Manaseer, who provided inconsistent accounts of his actions. Local police were notified to help manage the situation and escort him to a hospital for evaluation.
Shortly thereafter, police from Chaiya district contacted their Mueang district counterparts to assist in the arrest of a foreign man involved in motorcycle theft. The suspect’s description matched Al Manaseer’s, reported Bangkok Post.
The Nigerian was subsequently detained, and the motorcycle was recovered, along with 16 additional stolen items found hidden within it. Al Manaseer was transferred to the Chaiya police station for further legal proceedings.
In similar news, police in Bangkok’s Thakham district announced the arrest of two suspects, 26 year old Khemchat from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and 20 year old Anuchit from Bangkok.
During the operation, officers seized key evidence, including a red Honda PCX motorcycle allegedly used in the crime, a stolen blue Honda Wave motorcycle, a white half-helmet, and the clothing worn during the incident. The arrest took place in the early hours of February 17 at 1.50am at a rental house on Soi Suksawat 35, Soi 3, in Rat Burana district.
The arrests followed a report made on February 15 at 8.35pm by 35 year old Kanokwan, who found that her blue Honda Wave motorcycle had been stolen from outside Ratchapoom Clinic on Rama 2 Soi 65 in Bang Khun Thian district.
Investigators from Thakham Police Station analysed CCTV footage tracking the suspects’ escape route, which led them to a rental house where the suspects were staying. Upon reaching the location, officers discovered a red Honda PCX motorcycle parked outside.
