Government raid dismantles major gambling den in Nakhon Nayok
Government officials dismantled a large gambling den, apprehending over 100 gamblers, many of whom were elderly, in a raid on a building in Nakhon Nayok.
The operation, conducted by a special task force from the Department of Administrative Affairs, occurred around 11pm yesterday, February 3.
Images and details of the raid were shared via the Thai Police’s Facebook page, accompanied by a video clip showcasing the event.
The raid involved numerous officials storming the premises of the gambling den, which was securely locked. The area was crowded with motorcycles and cars parked outside.
Inside the building, more than 100 people were found engaged in various forms of gambling, with a significant portion of the gamblers being older adults.
Upon the arrival of the officials, chaos ensued as gamblers attempted to evade capture. Some tried to hide under tables but were ultimately unsuccessful in their attempts to escape, reported KhaoSod.
The establishment was found to offer a variety of gambling activities and was well-equipped with several air conditioning units for comfort.
Additionally, a significant number of CCTV cameras were installed throughout the premises.
In similar news, police in Bangkok raided a notorious gambling den operated by Kiat Don Mueang, also known as Panuae.
Over 100 gamblers were caught in the act of playing the traditional Thai game known as hi-lo during the raid. This marks yet another crackdown on the illegal establishment that has been raided multiple times before yet continues to operate.
At 4.20pm on December 9 last year, a team of officers led by Attapol Anusit, the Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 2, along with other senior police officials, executed a search warrant at a building located on Songprapa Road, Soi 1, in the Don Mueang district of Bangkok.
The search warrant, issued by the Criminal Court, was part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal gambling activities at this location.
