Ex-police officer arrested for indecent acts with child in Krabi
A 70 year old former police officer has been arrested for allegedly luring a seven year old girl to buy toys before committing indecent acts. The man was previously dismissed from service for similar offences.
Yesterday, April 9, Police Major General Wichaya Sriprasertphap directed Police Colonel Phatarawut Onchuay and Police Lieutenant Colonel Kittibodin Kimsea to apprehend Thongdee (surname withheld) under a warrant issued by the Krabi Provincial Court on October 19, 2017.
The charges include abducting a child under 15 from their parents for indecent purposes and committing indecent acts with a minor using force. The arrest took place in Mueang district, Uthai Thani province.
At the time of the incident, seven year old A (alias) and her mother were residing at her grandmother’s house in Krabi, where Thongdee was also staying in the storage room. The incident unfolded when A encountered Thongdee while on her way to see her mother.
He persuaded her to go buy toys, accompanied by her eight year old cousin B (alias), who rode along on Thongdee’s motorcycle. After buying the toys, Thongdee dropped B off and took A to his room, where the indecent acts allegedly occurred while the child was unable to resist. She was released to return home afterwards.
Upon returning home, A recounted the events to her mother and grandmother, who immediately reported the incident to the Mueang Krabi Police Station. The child was taken to Krabi Hospital for a physical examination for any signs of abuse.
Investigators then gathered evidence to request an arrest warrant from the court. Thongdee evaded capture for nearly eight years before his recent arrest, reported KhaoSod.
During questioning, Thongdee denied the accusations. However, the police remain sceptical of his claims, given his history of similar offences, which led to his dismissal from the police force. He has been handed over to Mueang Krabi Police Station for further legal proceedings.
