Bangkok gold heist: 23 necklaces stolen in daring store robbery

A daring heist took place at a renowned gold store inside a Lotus’s mall branch in Nong Chok, Bangkok, where a lone masked robber wielding a gun swept away 23 gold necklaces. The aftermath saw the thief escaping in a parked orange taxi. The incident occurred at 7.30pm yesterday, and the police were promptly informed.

As the officers from the Nong Chok Police Station arrived at the scene, they found the gold shop staff in a state of shock and gold necklaces scattered on the showroom floor. According to the employees, the thief is estimated to be about 23 years old and around 175 centimetres tall, covered up in a black hooded jacket and blue jeans. He brandished a firearm, which resembled a revolver, and threatened the staff before snatching two trays of gold necklaces. Each necklace weighed one baht, totalling 23 necklaces.

Before the Bangkok gold heist incident, the thief was seen loitering around the Lotus’s mall since the evening, seemingly waiting for the opportune moment to strike. He pulled out what appeared to be a revolver above his head, picked up two trays of gold, and fled into a parked orange taxi.

Investigating officers are now scouring CCTV footage from the Bangkok gold heist scene and along the escape route to gather evidence. The pursuit is on to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice, reported KhaoSod.

Around 5.20pm, a jewellery store on Pracha Niyom Road in the Ban Pong municipality of Ratchaburi province experienced a robbery. The Niyomsin Shop reported a loss of two gold necklaces, each weighing 1 baht, amounting to a total value of 65,000 baht.
