Fatal Phuket car crash claims woman’s life, injures couple

A tragic car crash in Phuket resulted in the death of a 30 year old woman after her car veered across the median and collided with an oncoming pickup truck. The collision also severely injured a married couple in the truck.
Earlier today, April 7, Police Lieutenant Somchai Nuboon from Kathu Police Station in Phuket was informed of a car accident on Phra Phuket Kaew Road in Kathu district. Responding to the report, he, along with volunteers from Kusoltham Foundation, arrived at the scene.
The accident involved a white Toyota, which was found with extensive damage. Panisa, the driver, was inside the vehicle, critically injured and unconscious, but with a detectable pulse. Rescue personnel immediately coordinated with Bangkok Hospital Siriroj for her urgent transfer. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Nearby, a white Chevrolet pickup was found, driven by a man named Anon, with his wife as a passenger. Both sustained injuries and were swiftly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Witnesses reported that the Toyota was travelling from Kathu district towards the Lotus Samkong intersection when it lost control at a curve near Andamanda Water Park. The vehicle crossed the median into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Chevrolet pickup truck, resulting in injuries and Panisa’s death.
Police have documented the incident as evidence and will investigate further to determine the cause before proceeding with legal actions, if deemed necessary, reported KhaoSod.

In related news, police in Phuket conducted a late-night operation targeting illegal street racing in the Laem Dinso area, a known hotspot. The crackdown, which occurred in the early hours of April 4, resulted in the apprehension of 17 underage motorcycle riders.
Police also seized 10 modified motorcycles during the operation, which is part of an increased effort by Wichit Police to combat illegal racing and late-night public disturbances.
