Two fishermen rescued after boat capsizes off Jomtien Beach

Two fishermen were rescued after their small fishing boat capsized off Jomtien Beach amid strong waves and winds. One of the fishermen was seriously injured.

The incident occurred around 7.06am today. The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation received a call about a boat capsizing and two people falling into the water and sustaining injuries.

Upon arriving at the scene, rescue workers found the injured fisherman, 30 year old Natthapong, suffering from water aspiration. They immediately provided first aid and transported him to Pattaya Hospital. The other fisherman, 25 year old Phongsak, sustained only minor injuries and was in a state of shock.

Phongsak explained that he and Natthapong had set out to sea in their small fishing boat to catch seafood for sale. The weather initially appeared calm, but as they were returning to shore, strong waves and winds caused their boat to capsize.

Both fishermen struggled to stay afloat and swim back to shore. Unfortunately, Natthapong had ingested a significant amount of water and was in critical condition. Their boat had submerged to the bottom of the sea, reported Pattaya News.

In related news, a fishing umbrella boat capsized near Laem Chabang Port in Chon Buri Province, Thailand, yesterday, leaving one crew member missing, feared drowned. The incident occurred around 1.2 nautical miles from the mouth of the Banglamung Canal. The vessel, carrying two people, encountered trouble due to a leak and was overturned by strong waves.

Onboard were 23 year old Chiang from Cambodia, and the boat’s owner, 50 year old Wichai Malison. Chiang managed to swim back to shore by clinging to a fuel tank. However, Wichai, who was last seen holding onto a plank, disappeared in the turbulent waters.

Rescue workers have been tirelessly searching for Wichai but have yet to locate him. The search team is patrolling the coast and the vicinity of the shipwreck, hoping to find any signs of the missing boat owner. Authorities have not provided new updates, and the fate of Wichai remains uncertain.
