Police in Sri Racha dismantled a call centre scam operation that had recently relocated from neighbouring countries to a secret base within the Chon Buri province. This action, executed yesterday, August 8, was part of a concerted effort by Thai law enforcement to combat fraudulent activities targeting Internet users.

The crackdown followed the disruption of the scammers’ underground internet cables in their previous location, compelling them to move their operations to Thailand. The base in Sri Racha was discovered in a residential village, where Region 2 Police conducted a raid.

Police seized computers, mobile phones, SIM cards, and multiple bank account books during the operation. Several Chinese nationals and Thai accomplices were arrested, though the Chinese ringleader is believed to have fled the country.

Region 2 Police reported that the gang employed dating apps to attract victims, using profiles of appealing women to persuade them into making investments, which resulted in substantial financial losses. The public is urged to exercise caution when using such apps.

Despite the significant arrests, none of the suspects’ identities have been disclosed, reported Pattaya News

In related news, police have released a list of 329 phone numbers used by a Chinese call centre gang to scam victims. Police urge the public to report any contact from these numbers immediately.

Police from the Provincial Police Region 2 Investigation Division revealed these 329 phone numbers connected to call centre scams on August 2. The gang was known for installing SIM boxes to facilitate these fraudulent activities.

Police successfully arrested several Chinese nationals who were involved in setting up the SIM boxes for the call centre gang. During the raid, numerous SIM boxes and 329 associated phone numbers were confiscated.

The police emphasise the importance of the public being vigilant. If anyone receives a call from these numbers, they should report it to the Provincial Police Region 2 Investigation Division at 0-3827-6724.
