Pattaya’s Nong Prue district has its eyes on you

The Nong Prue Municipality, to the east of the main Pattaya city, has now installed 75 CCTVs in 32 spots so far in 2019. Plans are also underway to install 60 more cameras in 29 different areas valued at 10 million baht.

The official opening for the CCTV Control Centre in the Nong Prue Municipality was held two weeks ago and hosted by the Banglamung District Chief Amnart Charoensri and the Mayor Mai Chaiyanit.

Officials say the cameras are necessary because the area is rapidly growing as a dormitory suburb for city staff working in the Pattaya tourism sector. Many apartments and housing estates are popping up as workers move out of the more expensive Pattaya accomodation to something more affordable.

Nong Prue’s police department claim they don’t have enough staff and that the cameras are needed to help deter and solve crime, monitor the growing traffic and provide confidence in the area’s new and existing residents.
