Cambodian woman on the run after stabbing 2 Thai men in Pattaya
Officers from Mueang Pattaya Police Station are searching for a Cambodian woman who stabbed two Thai men at a dormitory on Soi Thep Prasit 7.
Police yesterday, September 5, were alerted to the dormitory stabbing and went to the scene to investigate. The Cambodian attacker fled the scene before the police arrived but officers managed to arrest her 32 year old Cambodian brother, Boonhat, who was the root cause of the incident.
The two Thai victims, 36 year old Suriya and 32 year old Nat, were transported to a hospital. Suriya sustained a cut to his wrist and required 12 stitches. Nat was cut on his head but his wound was not serious.
Nat told the police that many Cambodian nationals, most of whom worked illegally as ice cream vendors, resided in the dormitory. However, Boonhat was not a resident. He came to visit his older sister, the suspect attacker.
Nat explained that he and Suriya had a heated argument with Boonhat due to the loud noise he was making. They initially asked Boonhat to lower his voice, and although he agreed at first, he soon became loud again, prompting them to issue another warning.
During the second warning, Boonhat appeared angry and responded.
“I’m going to make noise. What are you going to do about it?”
This escalated the argument into a physical altercation, leading to chaos.
Amidst the fighting, Boonhat’s sister, whose identity remains undisclosed, grabbed a knife and suddenly slashed Suriya and Nat.
Police officers are now reviewing security camera footage in the area to trace the attacker’s escape route. In addition, Immigration Bureau officers will visit the dormitory to take legal action against the Cambodian ice cream vendors, as this occupation is restricted to Thai nationals.
In a related report, a Cambodian man was arrested yesterday, September 5, for the murder of a Cambodian woman in a rented room in the central province of Lopburi. The suspect claimed that the argument arose from a previous conflict with the woman’s younger brother.
The man further claimed that the woman threatened him with a knife during their argument, which led him to repeatedly cut her throat.
