Thailand heatwave hits 28 provinces with summer storms

Thailand’s Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather warning for today, April 5, highlighting intense heat in some areas and storms affecting 28 provinces, including Bangkok. Strong gusty winds and high waves in the sea are also expected, urging residents to exercise caution.
In Thailand’s upper regions, low pressure from heat is causing overall hot weather, with extreme heat in parts of the North and Central areas. Meanwhile, southern and southeastern winds are bringing moisture to the North, Central, Bangkok, its vicinity, and the East, resulting in thunderstorms and gusty winds in these areas. Residents are advised to stay alert for potential hazards related to these weather conditions.
The eastern winds affecting the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea are expected to bring thunderstorms. Wave heights in the Gulf of Thailand are forecasted at 1-2 metres, rising over 2 metres during thunderstorms. Similarly, the Andaman Sea is expected to have waves around 1 metre high, with heights exceeding 1 metre offshore and over 2 metres during storms. Mariners in these areas are advised to navigate carefully and avoid stormy conditions.
Dust and haze accumulation in the North and Central regions are moderate to high, mainly due to weak to moderate winds.
