Social media influencer Guntouch “Gun” Pongpaiboonwet rescued a Thai man after he was brutally tortured by his two employers at an electronic appliance store in the Isaan province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

The 38 year old victim, Kong, sent his story to Gun’s official Facebook page, asking the influencer to help him. He told Gun that his employers brutally assaulted him in many ways, causing severe wounds across his body. His bottom had serious wounds with pus and he lost a tooth during a physical assault.

Gun then accompanied Kong to Nonthai Police Station to file a complaint against his employers yesterday, July 25. Police took pictures of multiple wounds on Kong’s body as evidence.

During an interview with news agencies yesterday, Kong explained that he was a local in the northern province of Nan but met his male employer in the nearby province, Chiang Mai. The employer asked him to work at his electronic appliance store in Nakhon Ratchasima and he agreed.

Kong worked and earned his income as usual until the last two years when his employer and the employer’s wife confiscated his debit card and bank account. Since then, he has received no income. The employer claimed that he had kept the money to prevent Kong from being wasteful.

Kong also revealed that the employer and his wife had deducted his income for numerous unjust reasons and subjected him to severe punishment, particularly when he failed to meet sales targets.

Beating and electric shock

According to Kong, his employers beat him with a plastic hose and ordered him to spin around, making him dizzy, or stand and sit repeatedly. Kong alleges that he was beaten more than 1,000 times and received electric shocks to his stomach and penis and reportedly attempted to make Kong sterile.

When Kong lost consciousness during punishment, the employers would pour water over him to wake him up and continue the torture.

Kong was left to sleep in a tent outside the employers’ home and was allowed to eat only one meal per day. Locals in the area witnessed the incident for a long time but no one dared to help Kong.

Kong stated that he wanted to escape from the store but did not dare to do so because the employers threatened to seize his home and land if he did. He was worried about his family so he tolerated the brutal assaults.

Nonthai Police Station officers visited the store after receiving the complaint but the couple was not present at the time. They later contacted the police in the evening and promised to come to the police station to acknowledge the complaint.
