Thai man assaults wife after discovering her sex-for-drug deals
A Thai man physically assaulted his wife in a rented room in the Isaan province of Udon Thani after discovering she traded sex for drugs twice. The abusive husband later forgave her.
The owner of the rented room, 62 year old Ittiphon, contacted officers from Nakha Police Station and asked the couple to explain the physical assault and the loud noise coming from their room. The 27 year old woman, named Onn, was crying, while her 34 year old husband, Boy, was clearly angry.
Onn suddenly bowed at her husband’s feet and apologised to him. She then promised never to bring any men to their room again.
Boy told Ittiphon and the police that he worked as a welder in a steel factory in the city centre of Udon Thani, while his wife was unemployed and stayed at home alone when he was away.
Boy later caught her having sex with another man. He said his wife did not seem to enjoy their sexual activities as much as she did in the past and sometimes refused to have sex with him.
Boy repeatedly questioned her until she confessed that she brought another man to their room and had sex with him when he was away. Onn claimed that she agreed to the sex only to obtain ketamine from the man.
Boy admitted to slapping Onn in the face and kicking her hard. He wanted to discuss the matter with Onn’s parents but Onn felt guilty and apologised to him. He still loved her and felt a responsibility to take care of her, so he forgave her.
Boy then made a promise in front of the police that he would never hurt his wife again, while Onn also promised not to cheat on him and to quit using drugs. They then kissed each other to prove their love.
Although the couple resolved their issues, Ittiphon decided to cancel the rental contract with them. He said the couple rented his room for 15 days but he received numerous complaints from other tenants.
Ittiphon explained that the couple often fought, caused loud disturbances, and used drugs in his accommodation. He supported Onn but her behaviour did not improve. He gave them 15 days to find a new place and move out.
