Thailand’s digital wallet scheme registration starts today
Registration for the digital wallet scheme started today, August 1 at 8am and will be available 24 hours a day until September 15. The Thai government arranged for a call centre at 1111 to answer any questions around the clock.
The digital wallet initiative, offering a digital currency worth 10,000 baht, has eight conditions and restrictions that citizens must meet to qualify. There are 5,199 walk-in registration points for those without smartphones.
For individuals not residing in the area listed on their house registration, the Ministry of Finance has made it possible to change their registered address. This adjustment ensures that citizens can use their digital wallets more conveniently.
The address must be updated at the district office or local administration office one day before registering for the digital wallet scheme. For example, for those who plan to register on September 1, the address change must be completed by August 31.
Changing the house registration address can be done simply, including notifying the new destination address. The required documents for this process include a copy of the house registration (homeowner’s copy), the homeowner’s national ID card, a letter of authorisation from the homeowner (if the notifying person is not the homeowner), the national ID card of the authorised person, and the house move notification form (T.R. 6) parts 1 and 2, which the homeowner must sign to consent to the move.
The process involves submitting these documents and evidence to the registrar in the new area. The registrar will verify the documents and the house move notification and add the name to the house registration. After checking that the details are correct, the registrar will return the house registration copy and evidence to the notifier.
Additionally, there is an online method for changing the house registration without visiting the district office or local administration office. This can be done by downloading the ThaID application, which is available for both iOS and Android.
After registering and logging in, users should visit the Department of Provincial Administration’s registration management website and log in with the ThaID application. Then, select the Self-Notification of House Move System menu and enter the homeowner’s national ID number.
The homeowner must confirm the information through the ThaID application. Once the homeowner confirms and consents, a notification will be sent to the registrar automatically. The registrar will later approve the change, reported KhaoSod.
