A 52 year old man with a history of sexual offences was recently apprehended for committing a violent rape in a rural area of Khon Kaen province. The suspect, Chaichana (surname withheld), was arrested today, April 10, following the issuance of a warrant by the Khon Kaen Provincial Court.

The harrowing incident took place on April 8, when a 56 year old woman, referred to here as Daeng for her protection, and her friend, referred to as Dam, were gathering bamboo shoots in a public forest area in the Sawathee district of Khon Kaen.

The two women had travelled to the forest on a Honda Wave 110i motorcycle with a sidecar, and while collecting shoots, Chaichana approached Daeng. Armed with a 50-centimetre-long knife, he coerced her into lying on the ground and proceeded to rape her.

After the assault, Chaichana encountered Dam, who inquired about her friend Daeng’s whereabouts. However, upon being questioned, Chaichana fled into the nearby woods.

Daeng and Dam shortly came across a neighbour driving by, who helped them return home. At 12.06pm on the same day, Daeng reported the assault at the Ban Ped Police Station, where the authorities began their investigation, reported KhaoSod.

Chaichana’s criminal history is extensive, with previous arrests dating back to 2007 for sexually assaulting a minor under 15 years old, in addition to other charges including child abduction, armed robbery, and drug offences. His arrest for the recent rape was conducted by police officers from Ban Ped station, led by Police Colonel Narachata Kaewpetch, the station chief, and his deputies.

In related news, police arrested a Thai sex pest for repeatedly sexually assaulting women, especially teenagers, in the Min Buri district of Bangkok by grabbing their breasts, masturbating in front of them, and spitting on them.

More than ten women filed a complaint at Min Buri Police Station that a perverted Thai sex pest on a motorcycle approached them while they were walking on the footpath and sexually assaulted them. Most of the incidents occurred in Soi Sriburanukit 9.
