A saxophonist in Nakhon Ratchasima suffered a severe injury when his finger was caught and partially severed by a washing machine. Doctors confirmed the need to amputate the upper part of his finger and advised caution when using washing machines.

A Facebook user shared this incident as a warning, explaining that after hearing a loud noise from the washing machine, they attempted to stop it while it was still spinning. Unfortunately, the fabric pulled the user’s hand into the drum, causing the index finger to be severely damaged. The user was immediately taken to Sung Noen Hospital for treatment.

The musician, 26 year old Attapol, explained that the incident occurred at 8pm on January 12. Doctors diagnosed a severed tendon and nerve in his right index finger, necessitating the amputation of the upper part of the finger.

Given his profession as a musician, Attapol must now adapt to using his fingers differently. He hopes his experience serves as a cautionary tale, urging others to ensure the drum completely stops spinning before opening the lid of a washing machine, reported KhaoSod.

Many might wonder why the washing machine did not stop spinning when the lid was opened. Attapol clarified that the motor of the machine had been replaced, rendering the original brake incompatible. As a result, the machine would not cease spinning when the lid was opened, only stopping when power was cut.
