Police rescue teenage boy from suicide attempt on Ayutthaya bridge

Two police officers stepped in to save a 15 year old boy from a suicide attempt on a bridge in Ayutthaya province yesterday, November 18.

Police Senior Sergeant Major Itsara Samakrob and Police Lance Corporal Thanachai Thianthong were dispatched to a bridge in the Pratu Chai district after receiving a report about a suicide attempt.

At the scene, officers found the teenager in his school uniform, sitting on the bridge and crying while holding a handwritten farewell letter.

The officers calmly approached him and asked to read the letter. Reports indicated the teenage boy had been under heavy stress from family and school pressures.

Itsara and Thanachai remained composed and tried to comfort the boy as dozens of residents gathered nearby to watch the rescue unfold. Several classmates also arrived to offer encouragement and persuade him to step away from the edge.

Once the boy began to calm down, Thanachai slowly walked over, hugged him gently, and told him that the problems he faced could be resolved.

The officers then contacted the boy’s teacher and mother to collect him and urged the family to seek mental health support. The mother expressed deep gratitude to the officers and everyone who helped saying…

“Without the police and all the good Samaritans, my son wouldn’t be standing here with me. Thank you to everyone who didn’t let this go and gave me the chance to hug him again.”

She told Channel 7 that she had recently divorced her husband and believed the family situation, combined with school issues, caused significant stress for her son.

Media reports stated that the boy’s emotional state improved after the incident, and he had since resumed school.
