Girl found dead after landslide collapses house in Sukhothai

A 10 year old girl has been found after a landslide that caused a house to collapse. A rescue team had been searching for her for three days, and her relatives were overcome with emotion upon hearing the news.

A landslide in the area of Moo 4, Khlong Krachong subdistrict, Sawankhalok district, Sukhothai province, caused a house along the banks of the Yom River to collapse. This tragic event resulted in injuries, fatalities, and the disappearance of a 10 year old Chutima, also known as Nong Jui. The rescue team had been diligently searching for her since the incident occurred several days ago.

The landslide and subsequent house collapse took place on October 8. Since then, rescue teams have been working tirelessly to find the missing girl. On October 10, police dogs were brought in to assist with the search, alongside rescue personnel and two large backhoes.

Relatives of the girl gathered at the site, lighting incense and praying for her swift recovery. Their hopes were pinned on the dedicated efforts of the search teams.

At 3.40pm, the search efforts intensified, with the rescue team employing various strategies to locate the missing girl. The backhoes were used to dig deeper into the soil, particularly in an area just above a small olive tree, where they believed the girl might be found. The excavation went down approximately 2 metres before human remains were spotted, reported KhaoSod.

“We’ve found her! We’ve found her!” shouted the relatives, who had been anxiously waiting nearby. Some burst into tears and rushed to the scene to confirm the discovery. The girl’s body was then handed over to her grieving family.

In related news, a house along the right bank of the Yom River in Sawankhalok district, Sukhothai, collapsed into the river, leaving two men and a young girl trapped inside. Despite ongoing rescue efforts, officials have yet to locate the missing individuals.
