A 60 year old Thai man shot his lover dead after she distanced herself from him before committing suicide in her rented room in the Isaan province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

Officers from Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima Police Station yesterday, October 10, investigated the shooting at room A9 on the first floor of a three-storey building. The room’s occupant, 40 year old Korn, was found lifeless at the entrance, with gunshot wounds to her shoulder, chest, stomach, and thigh.

Approximately 5 metres away from Korn, officers discovered the body of the 60 year old man, identified as Direk. He had a gunshot wound to his right temple, and a 9mm pistol was found near his body.

Korn’s friend, Ratchanee, told police and DailyNews that Korn was a fruit smoothie vendor at RN Tard Market. She worked hard to support her mother and was described as an attractive and friendly woman.

Recently, Direk began flirting with Korn, visiting her shop and rented room on several occasions. Ratchanee mentioned that Korn seemed to have feelings for Direk and referred to him affectionately as “daddy.”

However, Korn later discovered that Direk was already married with children. She chose to distance herself from him but Direk refused to let her go. Ratchanee believed that after failing to win Korn back, Direk killed her.

Officers reviewed CCTV footage from the scene, which showed Direk arriving in his car. He knocked on Korn’s door and entered. Not long after, the footage showed Korn attempting to flee the room but failing. She was shot multiple times at the door and died at the scene.

In a related incident, a jealous Thai man stabbed his wife to death in her car after suspecting her of having an affair. He then attempted to take his own life by shooting himself with a crossbow but survived.

Another murder-suicide was reported in the southern province of Songkhla, where four bodies were found in a house on October 7. Police suspect that the mother killed her husband and children before taking her own life. However, this has not yet been confirmed, and the motive remains under investigation.
