Former village head arrested for fatal shooting in Samut Prakan

A former village head in Samut Prakan was apprehended following an incident where he shot his nephew and niece-in-law. The shooting took place in Samut Prakan, and the gunman was detained in Chon Buri.
The incident occurred at the couple’s residence on Soi Boonthanom, Samrong subdistrict, Phra Pradaeng district, where a dispute over a planned modification of a shared wall reached a breaking point.
The gunman, 72 year old Manit, reportedly reacted in anger, using a firearm to shoot both 55 year old Amnat and 50 year old Surin, his nephew and niece-in-law, relatives who were married and living next door to the accused. After the shooting, Manit fled the scene in a bronze Toyota.
Yesterday, May 4, Pol. Col. Wichit Boonchinwutthikul, the commander of Samut Prakan Provincial Police, visited the crime scene. He revealed that the shooting stemmed from a long-standing familial dispute, which had previously led to legal actions and ongoing tensions between the relatives.

Initially, Manit admitted to the crime, and he is currently being transported back to Samrong Tai Police Station in Samut Prakan for further questioning. As investigations continue, police are working to gather more details surrounding the incident to ensure a thorough understanding of the events leading up to this tragedy.
