A Chinese man crashed his SUV into a rental house in the central province of Prachin Buri on Saturday, February 15, injuring two victims, a Thai woman and a Laotian man.

Officers from Kabin Buri Police Station investigated the accident, which occurred at around 9.30pm in the Kabin Buri district of Prachin Buri province. Upon arrival, they found a white Honda SUV lodged inside the damaged house. The driver was identified as a 37 year old Chinese man.

The driver sustained minor injuries, as did the two victims who were staying in the rental house. The details of their injuries were not included in the report.

Officers reviewed footage from a security camera on the road, which showed the SUV speeding across an intersection before crashing into the house. Police suspect that the Chinese man may have accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake when he noticed a red light at the intersection.

No information about legal charges against the Chinese driver has been released. However, based on a similar case, the driver may face charges under Section 390 of the Criminal Law for reckless driving causing injury to others. The offence carries a maximum penalty of one month’s imprisonment, a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or both.
