Thailand’s Department of Livestock Development announced that the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) recently approved and registered three additional Thai poultry processing and production facilities for export. This approval brings the total number of certified Thai poultry plants exporting to China to 26.

The continuous approval of Thai poultry export facilities by China reflects confidence in Thailand’s stringent control and regulatory systems. Thailand adheres to international standards such as Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs) and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system.

These standards ensure that Thailand meets the requirements outlined in the protocol between the Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and China’s customs authority, covering inspection, quarantine, and veterinary hygiene for frozen poultry exports.

China stands as a crucial trade partner for Thailand, especially in the livestock sector, with frozen poultry products being one of the primary exports. The strong bilateral relationship between Thailand and China has facilitated close coordination at both policy and operational levels, ensuring compliance with established conditions.

In 2023, Thailand’s frozen poultry exports to China were valued at 16.9 billion baht. For the first half of 2024 (January to June), the exports are valued at over 8 billion baht, with projections indicating that the total value for 2024 could exceed 18 billion baht.

The trend of increasing exports is not limited to China. Thailand’s overall poultry exports to various global markets, including Japan, the United Kingdom, Europe, Malaysia, and South Korea, have also shown significant growth.

Last year, the total value of Thai poultry exports was 149.975 billion baht. The first six months of 2024 (January to June) saw exports valued at 76.745 billion baht, marking a 7% increase compared to the same period last year, reported KhaoSod.
