Bangkok Airways suspends Hat Yai and Da Nang routes until further notice

Regional airline Bangkok Airways based in Thailand announced the temporary suspension of two of its routes “until further notice.”

Bangkok Airways will suspend all flights on the domestic Bangkok – Hat Yai route on March 1, 2023.

International route Bangkok – Da Nang, in Vietnam, will be suspended from May 1, 2023.

The airline did not reveal the reason for the temporary suspension of the two popular routes with no set dates for their return.

Passengers who already bought tickets on the aforementioned routes beyond the suspension dates have three options…

1. Request a refund as a ‘Travel Voucher’ to use on other flights serviced by the airline via www.bangkokair.com/travel-voucher
2. Request a full monetary refund via https://www.bangkokair.com/managing-my-booking
3. Have Bangkok Airways rearrange the flight on another airline

Bangkok Airways flies to domestic destinations such as Chiang Mai, Krabi, Lampang, Phuket, Pattaya, Samui, Trat, and Sukhothai.

The airline also flies internationally to Phu Quoc in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Luang Prabang in Laos, Mumbai in India, Phnom Phen, Siam Reap in Cambodia and Yangon in Myanmar – and perhaps most surprisingly – the Maldives.

Other regional airlines are adding routes and increasing flight frequencies on existing routes to meet growing demand from the recovering tourism industry.

On February 1, Qatar Airways launched three daily flights between Doha and Phuket in southern Thailand, bringing the airline’s number of services to Thailand up to seven per day, including four flights to and from Bangkok.

Two weeks ago, Taiwan-based China Airlines started nonstop flights between Chiang Mai in northern Thailand to Taiwan.

Since China opened up its borders, five airlines launched direct flights between Phuket in southern Thailand and the mainland. The services will connect Phuket to Shanghai, Nanjing, and Chengdu.
