AirAsia Malaysia resumes flights to Pattaya in June
AirAsia Malaysia (AK) has thrilled travellers with news of its revival of services between Kuala Lumpur and Pattaya, launching three weekly flights starting from June 17.
The announcement marks the airline’s bold step in resurrecting its ninth direct route to Thailand from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Penang post-pandemic. Alongside destinations like Bangkok, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Hat Yai, Pattaya (U-Tapao) stands as a beacon for tourism, domestically and internationally.
AirAsia Aviation Group CEO Bo Lingam states that Pattaya’s allure as Thailand’s eighth-largest city continues to captivate wanderlust-stricken hearts.
“We’re thrilled to reinstate direct connectivity from Kuala Lumpur to this vibrant coastal gem. Our commitment to enhancing accessibility extends to second-tier cities like Pattaya.”
With over 60,000 travellers shuttled between Kuala Lumpur and Pattaya in 2019 alone, the anticipation for this relaunched route is palpable.
“Our data shows a staggering 2.7 million guests flew from Malaysia to Thailand in 2023. We’re confident this revitalised route will see a surge in travel to and from Thailand this year.”
To sweeten the deal, AirAsia is rolling out irresistible promotional fares. Grab a one-way ticket from Kuala Lumpur for just 99 Malaysian Ringgits (approximately 750 baht) or enjoy a 990 baht (terms and conditions apply) all-inclusive one-way fare from Pattaya to Kuala Lumpur, reported TTR Weekly.
But hurry, these deals are only valid until March 24 for travel between June 17, and June 16, 2025.

In related news, Thai AirAsia weighed in on the issue of high airfares which prompted calls for price reductions, arguing that slashing ceiling prices is not a feasible solution due to increased operational costs borne by airlines since the onset of the pandemic. The airline’s Chief Executive, Santisuk Klongchaiya, suggested increasing flights during the Songkran festival as a potential strategy to decrease average fares.
