Skyfall at Cha-am: Four dead as police plane plunges into sea

A routine morning turned tragic at Cha-am Beach today as a small aircraft, believed to be a police plane, crashed into the sea, leaving four dead and one injured. The incident adds to a growing list of aviation tragedies in Thailand in recent years.

At approximately 8.15am, today, April 25, emergency services in Phetchaburi province received reports of a plane crash in the waters off Cha-am Resort. Responding swiftly, officers from the Cha-am Police Station and the Huai Sai Tai 01 patrol unit confirmed the downing of a small aircraft, near Hua Hin.

Police sources informed Amarin TV that four individuals lost their lives in the crash, one person sustained injuries, and another remains trapped within the wreckage. The aircraft is believed to be a police plane, though official confirmation is pending.

This incident is the latest in a series of aviation accidents that have plagued Thailand:

  • August 2024: A Cessna Caravan C208B operated by Thai Flying Service crashed into a mangrove swamp in Chachoengsao Province shortly after departing from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport. All nine people on board, including five Chinese tourists, perished in the crash.

  • August 2024: A small passenger plane on a domestic flight crashed shortly after takeoff from Bangkok, killing all nine people aboard. Rescuers found no survivors at the crash site in a mangrove swamp in Chachoengsao Province.
