Thonburi drug bust: 48 kilogrammes of meth and ketamine seized

A drug bust in Thonburi led to the confiscation of 25 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine and 23 kilogrammes of ketamine after a suspect fled, abandoning two cars. The incident occurred at 7.30am, yesterday, February 17, when the police were monitoring a drug gang.
Police Colonel Thirachai Dedkad, Deputy Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 9, along with Police Colonel Shanti Kornkasem and other officers, discovered the illicit substances concealed in two vehicles near Phetkasem Road, Bang Khae district in Bangkok. The drugs were packed in black bags inside a black Honda HR-V and a white Honda Jazz, both registered in Bangkok.
The operation began after the Division 9 investigation team received intelligence from an informant about a planned drug exchange along Phetkasem and Rama 2 Roads. Officers followed the black Honda HR-V, which was used to transport the drugs. Unexpectedly, the vehicle’s radiator broke, causing the driver to stop, awaiting assistance from the white Honda Jazz.
As the suspects attempted to transfer the drugs, they noticed the police presence and managed to escape, leaving the cars behind. Upon inspection, officers found three black bags filled with drugs in the black Honda HR-V, placed on the passenger seat and behind the driver’s seat. In the white Honda Jazz, four black bags containing drugs were discovered on the passenger seat.
The police coordinated with Lak Song Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the area, to assist in examining the scene. The Metropolitan Police Division 9 investigation team is currently working with forensic officers to collect fingerprints and further evidence.
The recovered drugs have been handed over to Lak Song Police Station detectives for further investigation, with plans to send the evidence to the Office of the Narcotics Control Board to trace the vehicle owners and gang members, reported KhaoSod.
Reports indicate that the suspects are part of a drug trafficking gang operating in Thonburi. Investigation teams are actively pursuing the suspects to bring them to justice.
