Bangkok police officers recently apprehended a 50 year old suspect for his involvement in a string of perverse incidents, where he covertly filmed under women’s skirts. The arrest in the Lam Hin area followed a detailed investigation sparked by numerous reports of such violations.

The suspect, known for his disturbing behaviour, was detained at his residence yesterday, April 2, after evidence of his actions, including clips of his voyeuristic activities, was discovered.

The operation was commanded by Police Major General Thiti Saengsawang, with a team led by Police Lieutenant General Theeradech Thamsutee, who joined forces with analysis and investigative units to track down Veerathep, the elusive perpetrator. Veerathep, who was already under a Min Buri Criminal Court warrant, was charged with committing indecent acts against a minor, regardless of consent.

Insights from the investigation revealed that Veerathep, originally from Phatthalung, had moved to Bangkok as a teenager and worked in the clothing trade at local markets. In recent years, his daily consumption of alcohol allegedly clouded his judgement, leading to actions he claimed not to recall, including the incidents leading to his arrest.

The suspect confessed to the investigators that the urge to film under skirts arose when he was intoxicated, describing it as a compulsion fuelled by alcohol. He admitted to having settled previous accusations with money, avoiding legal repercussions until now.

Police Lieutenant General Theeradech highlighted the gravity of Veerathep’s actions, emphasising the societal threat posed by such behaviour towards women, children, and adolescents. He urged the public to remain vigilant, especially when dealing with strangers exhibiting unusual behaviour.

He also advised women wearing short skirts to take extra precautions, such as wearing shorts underneath, for their safety, reported KhaoSod.

Following the arrest, Veerathep was handed over to the police at Lam Hin Police Station for legal proceedings regarding his perverted acts.
