Iranian man arrested at Bangkok airport over indecent act charges

Thai police apprehended a 31 year old Iranian man at Suvarnabhumi International Airport as he attempted to flee the country. He is accused of committing an indecent act against a female rider on Sunday, February 23. The incident occurred while she was driving a passenger, prompting her to seek help at a police post.
The case progressed when, at 1.47am on February 25, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, alongside Police Major General Napasilp Poolsawat and Police Major General Witawat Chinkam, instructed police officers from Lumphini Police Station to track down the suspect.
Lumphini Police Station was notified, and the victim was interviewed following her report.
Investigators collected crucial evidence, including video clips and CCTV footage of the alleged incident, which were submitted to support the investigation. The suspect was identified as Mohsen Teimourbalghour. Subsequently, the police compiled evidence and submitted a request for an arrest warrant to the Bangkok Criminal Court.
The court approved the warrant, number 234/2568, dated February 24. The charges include committing an indecent act against a person over 15 years old by threatening or using force, rendering the person unable to resist or misleading them to believe the perpetrator was someone else.
Police coordinated with immigration and relevant agencies to locate the suspect. Yesterday, February 24 at approximately 9.30pm, Lumphini Police Station investigators received information from Police Lieutenant Colonel Kamolthip Khemna, an officer from the Immigration Bureau, that the suspect was attempting to leave Thailand through Suvarnabhumi Airport, reported KhaoSod.
Immigration police detained him under the warrant and transferred him to Lumphini Police Station for legal proceedings and further questioning the next morning.
Original story: Female rider harassed by customer seeks justice in Bangkok
A female transport rider was allegedly harassed by an Arab customer during a journey, prompting her to seek refuge at a police booth, only to find it unattended. She called for help and later filed a complaint at Lumphini Police Station, vowing to pursue the case to the fullest extent.
On February 23, at Lumphini Police Station, the rider, identified as Bee, a 40 year old transport worker, recounted her ordeal. She explained that she had picked up a passenger at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and was driving towards the Tobacco Factory area.
Although the exact location was unclear, the passenger persistently attempted to grope her. Feeling increasingly unsafe, she decided to head towards the police station.
Despite her efforts to dissuade him by stressing the importance of respecting women and transport riders, the harassment continued.
In a bid to escape, Bee ran into a police booth at Wireless Intersection and called for help, but no officers were present. As she shouted for assistance from passers-by, the man attempted to pacify her by offering to pay for the ride and any damages, on the condition that she stopped calling for help.
When she refused, he fled without paying. Security footage later showed the man touching her shoulder and behaving inappropriately.
Bee expressed her determination to see the man arrested, warning of the threat he posed to female riders. In her two years in the profession, she had never experienced such an incident.
She further emphasised the need for mutual respect between customers and female riders.
“It’s not right to assume you can do anything just because she’s a woman.”
Bee has decided to temporarily stop working to focus on setting an example with this case.
She has provided the police with the man’s contact details to ensure he is brought to justice, according to KhaoSod.
Lumphini police have received her complaint and are actively investigating in an effort to locate and prosecute the suspect swiftly.
