Chinese man arrested in Bangkok for alleged rape of Thai student
A 33 year old Chinese man has been apprehended by police in Bangkok following allegations of rape involving an 18 year old university student. The incident, which was reportedly filmed by the suspect, raised significant concerns about the safety of young women in the capital city.
The victim recounted to police that she encountered the suspect, identified as Su Xing Rui, on the sixth floor of the MBK Centre in Pathum Wan district yesterday, December 3. Speaking to her in Chinese, a language she was learning, Su presented himself as a tourist and invited her to accompany him to a hotel on Petchaburi Road. Once there, the student alleged that she was forcibly detained and coerced into participating in a sex video.
Traumatised by the ordeal, the young woman returned home and later received a text from Su, urging her to repeat the encounter. This prompted her to confide in her family and subsequently lodge a complaint at Phaya Thai Police Station.
Police devised a plan to apprehend Su by arranging a meeting under pretences. Su suggested that the woman bring along another man for what he described as fancy sex, according to IDMB commander, Police Major General Theeradech Thammasuthee.
An officer, disguised as a wrestler, entered the hotel room in Ratchathewi district where the rendezvous was to occur. Six additional officers hid within the room, ready to act upon the given signal.
The operation culminated in Su’s arrest when the disguised officer uttered the prearranged signal, “Hehehe,” allowing the officers to emerge and detain him. The police commander noted that Su had a penchant for a sexual fetish known as natorare, or NTR, which involves elements of cuckoldry. His frequent movements necessitated a thorough analysis of his patterns to successfully execute the arrest.
Upon his capture, police confiscated Su’s mobile phone, uncovering numerous upskirt photos and sadistic videos involving other victims. A rope, allegedly used in his activities, was also seized, reported Bangkok Post.
Despite the evidence against him, Su initially denied the charges, maintaining that he was merely a tourist. He remains in custody at Phaya Thai Police Station as the investigation continues.
