The Meteorological Department of Thailand issued a weather warning for 50 provinces today, as parts of the country brace for heavy rainfall. The southern region is set to experience the heaviest downpours, which may lead to flash floods and forest waterflow. Bangkok is expected to see a 60% chance of showers and gusty conditions. This forecast is valid for the 24 hours beginning today.

The current weather conditions are the result of a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China spreading down and covering the upper northeastern region. Concurrently, easterly winds are prevailing over the lower central and southern regions, accompanied by a low-pressure trough covering the Malaysian coast. As a result, the northern, eastern, and central regions are likely to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The southern region, on the other hand, is set to see heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. The public in the upper part of Thailand is urged to remain vigilant for hazards from thunderstorms and strong winds.

It is advised to avoid staying in open areas, under large trees, with weak buildings, and unstable advertising signs. Caution should also be exercised while travelling through areas with thunderstorms.
