Tropical Storm Kajiki set to bring heavy rain to 55 provinces
Fears grow as storm threatens communities across Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued its seventh warning regarding Tropical Storm Kajiki, highlighting 55 provinces expected to be affected by heavy rainfall.
The TMD urges the public to be cautious of potential flash floods due to the heavy downpours. Today, August 24, the department forecasted weather conditions for the next 24 hours, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of the country, particularly the upper northeastern region, including Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces.
This is due to a strengthened southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, along with a monsoon trough over northern and upper northeastern Thailand.
In the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, waves are expected to reach 2 to 3 metres, with higher waves in stormy areas. Boat operators are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.
Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand should refrain from venturing out to sea. Meanwhile, the strong tropical storm Kajiki in the upper South China Sea is likely to make landfall in Vietnam and upper Laos between August 25 and August 26, leading to increased rainfall, heavy to very heavy in several areas, with strong winds in the upper northeastern and northern regions from August 24 to August 27.
Northern Region: Thunderstorms in 70% of the area with some heavy rain in Nan, Lampang, Phrae, Tak, Sukhothai, Uttaradit, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. Temperatures range from 21 to 24°C to 27 to 33°C with southwest winds at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour.
