Thai-m to prepare: TMD predicts rain and thunderstorms

The Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) issued a warning for 36 provinces to prepare for rain and thunderstorms. Bangkok and its vicinity can expect rain in 40% of their area, meanwhile, the southern coast will see thunderstorms in 60% of its areas.

The TMD’s 24-hour weather forecast indicates that the southwest monsoon is covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Additionally, a low-pressure area covers the coast of upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin.

This weather pattern is causing thunderstorms in some regions of Thailand, with heavy rain expected in the eastern and western southern regions. Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of the dangers posed by heavy rain and accumulated rainfall.

The northern region is expected to experience thunderstorms in 40% of its area, particularly in the provinces of Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Tak, and Phetchabun. The minimum temperature will range between 24 to 26 degrees Celcius, while the maximum temperature will be between 34 to 36°C.

In the northeastern region, thunderstorms are expected in 30% of the area, mostly in the provinces of Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Chaiyaphum, and Ubon Ratchathani. The minimum temperature will range between 24 to 27°C, and the maximum temperature will range between 34 to 38°C.

The central region will also experience thunderstorms in 30% of its area, particularly in the provinces of Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi. The minimum temperature will be between 25 to 27°C, and the maximum temperature will be between 36 to 37°C.

High waves

Eastern region residents should expect thunderstorms in 40% of the area, with heavy rain in some locations, especially in the provinces of Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. The minimum temperature will range between 24 to 29°C, and the maximum temperature will be between 33 to 37°C. The sea will have waves about 1 metre high, and in thunderstorm areas, the waves will be higher than 1 metre.

For the southern eastern coast, thunderstorms are expected in 40% of the area, particularly in the provinces of Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. The minimum temperature will be between 24 to 27°C, and the maximum temperature will be between 34 to 37°C. The sea will have waves about 1 metre high, and in thunderstorm areas, the waves will be higher than 1 metre.

The western southern coast will see thunderstorms in 60% of its area, with heavy rain in some locations, especially in the provinces of Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket. The minimum temperature will be between 24 to 26°C, and the maximum temperature will be between 32 to 34°C.

From Phuket upwards, the sea will have waves 1 to 2 metres high, and in thunderstorm areas, the waves will be higher than 2 metres. From Krabi downwards, the sea will have waves about 1 metre high, and in thunderstorm areas, the waves will be higher than 1 metre.

Bangkok and its vicinity can expect storms of the same manner in 40% of its areas. The minimum temperature will be between 26 to 28°C, and the maximum temperature will be between 34 to 37°C.

Residents in affected areas should remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
