Honda Jazz suspect evades police in high-speed Chon Buri chase
A white Honda Jazz evaded a police checkpoint in the Mueang district of Chon Buri yesterday, January 14, at 10pm, leading to a high-speed chase that spanned multiple districts.
The vehicle registered as กต 1875 Khon Kaen was pursued by officers from Don Hua Lo and Phan Thong Police Stations.
The chase continued along Sukprayoon Road, eventually reaching a U-turn near a local temple. Despite police efforts to stop the car by shooting the front left tyre, the suspect continued to drive erratically, crashing into two civilian motorcyclists, both of whom were seriously injured.
The suspect abandoned the vehicle in the middle of the U-turn and fled on foot into a dark alley. Rescue personnel from the Tri-Khunatham Foundation arrived promptly to provide first aid to the injured motorcyclists.
The motorcycle involved was identified as a black Honda Wave, registered as 1 กภ 1731 Chaiyaphum, found crashed into the rear of the suspect’s car.
The victims were immediately transported to Phan Thong Hospital for further treatment.
Further investigation revealed the involvement of a green Mitsubishi Mirage, registered as ขย 929 Chon Buri, and a white Honda Jazz, registered as กน 2366 Chachoengsao, both of which sustained rear-end damage from the suspect’s erratic driving.
A 47 year old woman, Da, the owner of the green Mitsubishi, disclosed that the police were pursuing the Honda Jazz due to suspected drug possession.
The chase began in Mueang district, Chon Buri, and ended in Nong Tamlueng, Phan Thong district. The suspect’s reckless driving caused several rear-end collisions, and they quickly fled the scene on foot.
Two officers from the Don Hua Lo Police Station were injured during the pursuit, sustaining wrist injuries when their vehicle was forced off the road. The pursuit covered several kilometres from the initial checkpoint to the final location, reported KhaoSod.
Police have impounded the suspect’s vehicle for further investigation and are working to identify and apprehend the driver for legal proceedings.
