Villager finds man shot dead in Khon Kaen field

A shocking discovery occurred when a local villager tending to their cattle stumbled upon a man’s body in a field at the edge of the village, prompting a swift police response. The findings revealed that the man had been shot in the head and chest, leading investigators to swiftly launch an inquiry to track down the culprit.

The chilling incident unfolded yesterday in the rural area of Ban Nong Sa Baeng, Moo 8, Huai Kae subdistrict, Chonnabot district, Khon Kaen province.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Dawrueng Thauthongsuk, Deputy Inspector of Investigation at Chonnabot Police Station, received the report and coordinated with medical personnel from Chonnabot Hospital and forensic officers from Khon Kaen’s Evidence Center 4.

They arrived promptly at the scene, accompanied by Police Colonel Phattanaphong Patsamran, Superintendent of Chonnabot Police Station, the investigative team, and a rescue unit.

Upon arrival, police found the deceased man, later identified as Bunserm, a 43 year old local villager. He was dressed in a purple long-sleeved T-shirt and red shorts, without shoes, lying on his side in the field.

Gunshot wounds were evident on his head and chest. A wooden stick, over a metre long, was discovered near the body, which investigators collected to examine for any connection to the crime, reported KhaoSod.

Pol. Col. Phattanaphong reported the findings of the man’s tragic death.

“Initial investigations revealed that at around 11am yesterday, a villager grazing buffaloes in the field came across Bunserm’s lifeless body and quickly notified the police. Upon examination, the police confirmed that he had sustained two gunshot wounds.”

The investigative team is actively pursuing leads to identify any conflicts Bunserm might have had with others, exploring all possible angles to apprehend the perpetrator and bring them to justice. The deceased’s body is undergoing a detailed autopsy before being returned to the family for religious rites.
