Truck driver shot in Chon Buri road rage incident

A trailer truck driver was shot in the arm after a terrifying encounter with another vehicle. The incident occurred at 4pm, yesterday, March 17, in Chon Buri’s Phanat Nikhom district.

The police were alerted to the shooting near Pho Tak intersection in Namatuem subdistrict. Upon arrival, they found a white and blue Isuzu truck with bullet holes in its windshield parked by the roadside.

The driver, Somchit, a 50 year old from Buriram, was inside with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. Emergency services provided initial treatment before taking him to Phanat Nikhom hospital.

Somchit recounted his experience, explaining that he had picked up goods in Bo Win and was en route to deliver them when a trailer truck suddenly cut in front of him at Mab Pu intersection in Khlong Kio, Ban Bueng district, Chon Buri.

The trailer truck then slowed down, and Somchit noticed a gun being aimed at his vehicle before shots were fired. Fearing for his life, he drove away, pursued by a colleague who was travelling the same route.

His colleague, Ek, revealed that he initially did not realise Somchit had been shot. It was only after seeing a message in a LINE group chat about the shooting that he understood what had happened.

Ek continued to follow Somchit for over 20 kilometres across two districts until reaching Phanat Nikhom, where they stopped to seek help, reported KhaoSod.

The police are coordinating with local officials to review CCTV footage from the scene to identify the trailer truck driver involved in the incident. This will aid in further questioning and legal proceedings.
