Technology Crime Suppression Division officers have detained a male teacher for posting indecent images of boys under 13, with five victims identified, some abused for over a decade. The arrest took place yesterday, March 5, at Kui Buri Police Station in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The Technology Crime Suppression Division, also known as cyber police, summoned A (a pseudonym) for questioning after several indecent images of young boys were posted online. This investigation followed a report from the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, received through the Cyber Tipline Report.

Subsequently, cyber police, along with the Region 7 investigation team, searched the suspect’s residence. Computers seized during the search contained numerous indecent images of children.

The suspect admitted to taking the photographs himself. The Education Department, the Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office, and the Prachuap Khiri Khan Child and Family Shelter are involved in the investigation, collaborating with multidisciplinary agencies.

Police are also coordinating with the parents of the victims. Initially, five male victims, aged between 7 and 17, have been identified, with some reportedly suffering abuse for more than 10 years.

The mother of one victim expressed her shock upon receiving a call from the police to bring her son to the station.

“I was deeply disturbed to learn my son was among those abused, as he had never disclosed the incidents. The matter must be handled legally.”

The central cyber police unit is leading the operation, with plans to transfer the suspect to Bangkok. The school’s director has instructed parents not to provide information to the media.

The suspect faces charges under Section 278/1 for possessing child pornography for sexual exploitation, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, a fine not exceeding 100,000 baht (US$2,975), or both, reported KhaoSod.

Additionally, charges related to indecent acts against children under 13, regardless of consent, carry a penalty of one to 10 years in prison, a fine ranging from 20,000 to 200,000 baht (US$595 to 2,980), or both. For acts against children under 15, the penalty is up to 10years’ imprisonment, a 200,000 baht fine, or both.
