Suspect arrested after fatal roadside stabbing near Lop Buri

A suspect has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a man who escaped from a hospital and was later found dead near a roadside pavilion.
The suspect claims self-defence, stating the victim attacked him while he was asleep. The police apprehended the suspect at his residence.
Police from Phatthana Nikhom district in Lop Buri province discovered the body of 40 year old Komsan, a Chon Buri native, near a passenger pavilion on Road 21 in Soi 3, Moo 1, Chongsarika subdistrict. Komsan, missing from his home for over two years after fleeing a hospital in Nakhon Ratchasima, was found with four stab wounds.
Witnesses last saw him walking alone and shouting on Road 21 near kilometre marker 40 in Khok Salung subdistrict, approximately 15 kilometres from where his body was discovered. Initial investigations suggested a possible altercation or robbery, leading to the fatal stabbing.
Yesterday, March 18, Police Colonel Chaimit Sithipoon led the investigation team to arrest 48 year old Pradabpetch “Auan” Thepraks, a resident of Mueang district, Amnat Charoen province, at his home. The arrest was made under a Lop Buri provincial court warrant dated March 17, charging him with causing bodily harm resulting in death.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed and participated in a crime scene reenactment. He recounted that after working at a local market, he rested at the pavilion.
Around 7.30pm, Komsan approached him, shouted insults, and punched him without provocation. Startled, the suspect drew a knife from his right waist and stabbed Komsan in the chest. As Komsan fled, the suspect pursued and stabbed him multiple times until he collapsed.
The suspect then took a bicycle from the pavilion and fled towards Saraburi province, eventually taking a bus back to his home in Amnat Charoen. The police later apprehended him, reported KhaoSod.
The reenactment, which took about 10 minutes, involved over ten officers ensuring security. The suspect was then taken back to Phatthana Nikhom district police station, awaiting further judicial proceedings at the Lop Buri provincial court.
