Man found dead at rice mill in Nong Bua Lam Phu
A 51 year old man was found dead yesterday from a gunshot wound at an old rice mill near Ban Lao Yai, Moo 8, Han Nang Ngam subdistrict, Sri Bun Rueang district, Nong Bua Lam Phu province.
Police Colonel Sumit Nansatit from the Sri Bun Rueang Police Station, along with forensic doctors, regional investigative police, and rescue units, arrived at the scene to investigate.
The man, Saenkhamlue, had been shot in the left chest with a shotgun at close range, resulting in six bullet holes and burn marks around the wound.
A handmade double-barreled shotgun was discovered 60 metres away in a fertiliser bag hidden in a sugarcane field, with evidence showing the left barrel had been fired. This weapon was collected for DNA analysis.
The victim’s sister revealed that her brother, who had been divorced for about two years and had a son working in Phetchabun province, was living at the old rice mill, a property she had arranged to purchase from a neighbour. Despite residing there, he would return home for meals.
She last spoke to him that morning before heading to the market, only to later receive a call from her son informing her of the shooting, reported KhaoSod.
Initial investigations suggest that the gunman was likely someone familiar with the victim, possibly waiting for him to arrive.
As the victim approached on his motorcycle with a sidecar, the assailant allegedly closed in and shot him at close range, resulting in his immediate death.
Thai police are prioritising the investigation to apprehend the perpetrator.
