Over 1 kilogramme of powdered methamphetamine was discovered hidden in the home of two brothers accused of breaking into coin-operated machines in the Samut Prakan province.

The pair was apprehended yesterday, March 3, by Bang Kaeo police officials, including Police Colonel Adirek Thongkamkaew, Deputy Police Colonel Chanwut Thiamwongkorn, Police Lieutenant Wason Wongrueng, and Police Captain Danai Kaewnan.

The suspects, 35 year old Phongsakorn “M” Janloetlak and 20 year old Phongphat “Ice” Janloetlak, were found with a black and red Honda Wave 110i motorcycle, lacking a license plate, and clothing worn during the crimes.

During a search of their residence in Bang Kaeo subdistrict, Bang Phli district, police found 1,091 grammes of methamphetamine concealed next to a speaker cabinet in the living room.

The brothers were charged with nighttime theft using a vehicle and possession of a category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, which contributes to public drug circulation. Additionally, they were charged with illegal consumption of methamphetamine.

The investigation was prompted by a complaint from Somjai Laisuwan, who reported on February 21 that intruders had cut the lock on his coin-operated car wash machine in Bang Phli Yai subdistrict, Bang Phli district, stealing approximately 2,500 baht (US$75).

Subsequent examination of CCTV footage revealed two men on a Honda Wave 110i motorcycle without a license plate. Further coordination between Bang Kaeo and Bang Phli police confirmed that the same suspects were responsible for multiple incidents across Samut Prakan.

Yesterday, March 3, at 1.30pm, Bang Kaeo police arrested the brothers at their home, where they confessed to the series of break-ins. They admitted to targeting several locations in Samut Prakan, using a tyre iron to break locks and steal money boxes from coin machines.

They claimed the stolen money was spent on online gaming and daily expenses. Regarding the methamphetamine, they alleged it belonged to a friend, a former bus driver, who had asked them to store it.

However, police remain skeptical and plan to trace the drug’s origins. Both brothers have prior convictions for theft, drug use, and weapon possession, reported KhaoSod.

During questioning, Phongsakorn admitted to driving the motorcycle while Phongphat, his younger brother, acted as the lookout. Once they identified an unattended target, they would use the tyre iron to break the padlocks and seize the money inside.

The brothers have conducted similar thefts in the jurisdictions of Bang Kaeo, Bang Phli, and Mueang police stations.
